Care Comes First in Home Makeover

Care Comes First in Home Makeover

A residential care home in Stoke-on-Trent has recently been refurbished to provide state-of-the-art care facilities for its NHS patients. The refurbishment included the creation of family friendly environments, including landscaped outdoor seating areas and indoor visitor spaces.

The investment into the facility was made to ensure the best possible care can be provided whilst creating a pleasant environment for the residents, visitors and staff. The exterior of the building has been given a very modern makeover, opting for sharp white rendering to contrast with the dark grey, and very popular, aluminium windows and doors.

Main contractors Sandycroft Construction faced a tight schedule which required the refurbishment of the home to be completed in stages so the residents were not disturbed. It was therefore of paramount importance that all of their suppliers were able to deliver the required elements on time and in full. Specifying Kestrel Aluminium Systems’ products for all the glazing requirements meant they could be sure that the material would be delivered on time so that their fabricator, 5 Star Windows, could complete each part of the job to meet the strict work schedule.

The solution was to order each part of the fitting schedule as and when it was required which Kestrel Aluminium Systems was able to deliver to suit 5 Star Windows’ requirements. The project required a mix of different systems; commercial doors and framing, curtain walling and a window suite.

The complete range of products that were installed were supplied by Kestrel Aluminium Systems. The versatile commercial door and framing was used for the main entrances, creating single and double door entrances to allow for easy access as well as the addition of louvred ventilation doors.

To create a light and bright entrance the doors were installed in the Curtain Walling which spans the height of the building. Insulated colour co-ordinated panels were also used to infill and mirror the panels installed between the two floors.

All the rooms have been fitted with thermally efficient windows to ensure they remain warm and assist in reducing heat loss. The windows achieve lower U-Values by using high-specification glass to ensure that heat loss is kept to a minimum. To allow natural ventilation into the building whilst keeping the building secure, saw the installation of all open out casement windows which were fabricated with trickle vents and restrictor hinges.

Sales Manager John Treagust visited the new installation on behalf of Kestrel Aluminium Systems. “Projects like this are a fantastic advert for Kestrel. It demonstrates the confidence our customers have in our systems by installing such a variety of products and it is great to see our customers involved in projects of this scale.

We are pleased that our customers can rely on the service and support that Kestrel Aluminium Systems provide to deliver the material on time and in full to complete a project to a strict schedule.”
