Major alliance for Kenrick And Winlock

Winlock, one of the UK’s largest hardware manufacturers and distributors, has embarked on a major alliance with Kenrick. The partnership will see Kenrick supply an exclusive range of high security locking systems to the Shropshire-based company.

Attracted to Kenrick because of the company’s superior product range, high levels of service and technical expertise, Winlock has chosen a full suite of products including Kenrick’s Excalibur, Easi-Fit and Centurion multi-point locking systems, as well as the Kenrick Espagnolette. Winlock will also be one of the first companies to use Kenrick’s recently developed Fast Fit Centurion system. Designed with the fitter firmly in mind, this robust shootbolt is quicker and easier to install than ever before, enabling fabricators to significantly increase profitability, without compromising on quality.

Paul Dupré Smith, Winlock’s managing director, says: “We reviewed many systems from several well known suppliers and found Kenrick to be way ahead on product, service and value for money. We’re very confident that our partnership with Kenrick will bring many benefits to our growing customer base of fabricators who are always looking for good products that combine the very best in security and performance with ease of fitting.”

Steve Jones, Kenrick’s managing director, added: “We are delighted to be working with Winlock, which has developed a great reputation for providing a total hardware solution for fabricators. There is a great synergy between the two companies and we are looking forward to enhancing Winlock’s offering with our range of high performance locking systems.”

Kenrick’s Excalibur shootbolt system is Secured by Design approved. It offers first rate security features, yet it’s simple to install. Durable and reliable, it benefits from a robust unhanded die-cast gearbox and bi-directional die-cast claws. It also fits all Eurogroove systems, making it a very flexible option for many different systems and applications.

Designed to be extremely quick and easy to install, Kenrick’s Easi-Fit is also Secured By Design approved. It benefits from patented bi-directional claws and opposing mushroom cams to provide greater security and enhanced weather performance. Reliable and cost effective, this claw locking mechanism provides secure engagement with a substantial die-cast keep and exceeds BS7950 security requirements. Critically, it also features a non-crop design, making it much easier and quicker to fit than many other multi-point locking systems.

Centurion has been engineered to provide a reliable, adaptable and cost effective locking system, which is extremely easy to install. It benefits from steel shootbolts, a robust unhanded die-cast gearbox and adjustable mushroom cams with night vent facility.

Established in 1987, Winlock is one of the UK’s largest national and international hardware suppliers. The firm operates from its 5,500 square metre factory and distribution centre in Shropshire and employs 120 people.

Archibald Kenrick & Sons Ltd was founded in West Bromwich in the Black Country in 1791 and has occupied the same site ever since. During the Industrial Revolution, the business became one of the country’s foremost cast iron manufacturers, something which continued for over 150 years. In the late 1940s, technological advances meant that Kenrick modernised rapidly, introducing new manufacturing techniques such as die-casting and injection moulding. Similar but evolved techniques are still used by Kenrick today.

Kenrick currently offers a variety of products for the furniture, door and window industries including castors, locking systems, handles and hinges. The majority of these products are either made on site in West Bromwich or at their overseas factories to a high standard. The design and innovation is carried out by Kenrick’s own experienced team.

In 1990, Kenrick became part of the Spire Group. It remains committed to investing in research and development, modern production techniques, new product launches and plans significant expansion over the coming years
