Sash Windows UK Chooses Excalibur RASP from Kenrick

The Excalibur RASP bump and snap resistant cylinder system from Kenrick has proved popular with customers of Sash Windows UK since it was introduced a few months ago.

The worrying ease and speed in which locks can be bumped and snapped led the Bradford-based specialist trade fabricator and manufacturer to review a number of systems that claimed to overcome these growing problems.

Sash opted for the proven reliability of the Excalibur RASP (which stands for Resistant Against Snapping and Picking) from Kenrick. It is the first cylinder available on the market to be kitemark approved and to have achieved full accreditation for the stringent PAS 24 standard, including the new clause 11a that covers severe physical attack on the lock cylinder. It is also independently tested by the Master Locksmith Association for BSI and has been awarded Secured By Design accreditation.

The company is now offering the Excalibur RASP as an optional extra to its customers. Many of Sash’s customers have had the system retro-fitted onto an existing lock for added peace of mind.

Jason Lee, director at Sash Windows UK, said: “Lock bumping and lock snapping have become major concerns because they allow a burglar to break into a house within seconds in virtual silence. We felt it was essential to offer extra reassurance to our customers with a reliable and secure product that combats these ever increasing types of burglary. The Excalibur RASP from Kenrick was by far the best system that we looked at and our customers have been delighted with how easy and cost effective it is to install.”

Archibald Kenrick & Sons Ltd was founded in West Bromwich in the Black Country in 1791 and has occupied the same site ever since. During the Industrial Revolution, the business became one of the country’s foremost cast iron manufacturers, something which continued for over 150 years. In the late 1940s, technological advances meant that Kenrick modernised rapidly, introducing new manufacturing techniques such as die-casting and injection moulding. Similar but evolved techniques are still used by Kenrick today.

Kenrick currently offers a variety of products for the furniture, door and window industries including castors, locking systems, handles and hinges. The majority of these products are either made on site in West Bromwich or at their overseas factories to a high standard. The design and innovation is carried out by Kenrick’s own experienced team.

In 1990, Kenrick became part of the Spire Group. It remains committed to investing in research and development, modern production techniques, new product launches and plans significant expansion over the coming years
