Groupco chooses Kenrick for high security hardware package

Groupco, one of the UK’s largest distributors of quality window fittings, has chosen hardware manufacturer Kenrick to supply the company with three high security locking systems.

Peterborough-based Groupco was keen to expand its portfolio of hardware products and approached Kenrick because of its strong heritage and good reputation for quality and technical support. The company is now supplying three products to Groupco - Centurion, Easi-Fit and the espagnolette locking mechanism.

Richard Duncan, Groupco’s managing director, said: “We are delighted to have formed a partnership with Kenrick, who, like us, are well known for their traditional values and high quality products. Offering trouble-free performance and value for money, the Kenrick products are also backed by industry certification for added peace of mind. We’re confident that this strategic move will bring greater choice to our discerning customer base and help us to maintain our position as a leader in the industry.”

Engineered to provide a reliable, adaptable and cost effective locking system, Centurion offers high levels of security and is extremely easy to install. It benefits from steel shootbolts, a robust unhanded die-cast gearbox and adjustable mushroom cams with night vent facility. Available in backsets of 20mm and 22mm, the system exceeds the security requirements of BS7950 and the corrosion requirements of BS7412. Centurion is also supported by Kenrick’s security guarantee, which offers the homeowner free security cover, up to £500 towards the cost of replacing a damaged window or door and up to £600 towards the cost of replacing stolen property.

The BBA certified Easi-Fit is designed to be extremely quick and easy to fit, so it’s ideal for busy installers, yet it benefits from patented bi-directional claws and opposing mushroom cams to provide greater security and enhanced weather performance. Reliable and cost effective, this claw locking mechanism provides secure engagement with a substantial die-cast keep and exceeds BS7950 security requirements.

The Kenrick espagnolette locking mechanism combines high security with value for money. It also benefits from a robust die-cast gearbox and can be supplied with either a 20mm or 22mm backset.

Archibald Kenrick & Sons Ltd was founded in West Bromwich in the Black Country in 1791 and has occupied the same site ever since. During the Industrial Revolution, the business became one of the country’s foremost cast iron manufacturers, something which continued for over 150 years. In the late 1940s, technological advances meant that Kenrick modernised rapidly, introducing new manufacturing techniques such as die-casting and injection moulding. Similar but evolved techniques are still used by Kenrick today.

Kenrick currently offers a variety of products for the furniture, door and window industries including castors, locking systems, handles and hinges. The majority of these products are either made on site in West Bromwich or at their overseas factories to a high standard. The design and innovation is carried out by Kenrick’s own experienced team.

In 1990, Kenrick became part of the Spire Group. It remains committed to investing in research and development, modern production techniques, new product launches and plans significant expansion over the coming years
