It helps to have some understanding when making the decision to invest heavily in equipment and this proved the case recently with Deceuninck fabricator, MB Frames, when it chose the latest advanced machines from market leader, Elumatec.
Bristol based MB Frames has bucked the trend in the PVC-U sector by notching up year-on-year growth. This has been down to a combination of value for money gained from volume production, firmly based in quality products, while retaining the approach of a friendly, ‘local’ fabricator that still has a client area that stretches from Birmingham in the north to along the whole of the south coast.
Elumatec has played a crucial part of this success story over the last 10 years; a fact that Paul Young, MB Frames’ Business Development Manager, can explain. Prior to joining the fabricator, he had worked for the world’s largest PVC-U and aluminium window and door processing machinery company, selling the machines that have become familiar in the UK and Ireland.
“Despite others being considered, in our opinion Elumatec has the resources to offer a solid service network,” explained Paul who has been with MB Frames for almost three years. “It has the infrastructure to cope with our possible demands in this competitive market. We cannot afford to have any down time, but it happens, and we need to know that our machinery company can support us. In this regard, Elumatec's service record to us is outstanding and its engineers have been with the company for a long time and know the business.”
The new machines comprise a VS704THV, to help produce more welded frames; a VSM 30/19 CS Quad welder to assist in welding more window and door sashes; and a SBZ615 profile cutting machining centre that enables operatives to cut and prep 6m bar lengths in one process. “The optimisation is greater and the processing speed far outweighs our existing machinery and can be operated by one man if need be,” stated Paul. “Production capability has more than doubled to 1,500 units per week.” The investment also coincided with a move during last Christmas to a new 30,000 sq ft factory at Fishponds Trading Estate, Bristol. Much of the machinery was installed and commissioned over a four-day period with the full assistance of engineers from Elumatec.
“Having MB Frames as a valued customer for such a period shows that, even in a difficult market, price alone doesn’t win over quality of product and service,” said Phil Heavey, Managing Director, Elumatec UK. “Even in this difficult time for PVC-U fabricators, you can succeed with the right back up and approach.”
