I was delighted to read the CBI’s Chief Economic Adviser Ian McCafferly revealing the results of the latest CBI Monthly Industrial Trends Survey, which show that the manufacturing sector is at a 12 year high. It’s nice to see some positive news about manufacturing. And I believe the window industry should be commended for being one of the few sectors bucking the all consuming trend of Britain becoming a purely service driven nation, by maintaining our UK manufacturing core.
We have risen to the challenge of meeting higher productivity demands while remaining competitive in a mature market. Maybe it’s a reflection of how many of the leading window and glass companies are continuing to invest in world class manufacturing plant and machinery to deliver the best product at the best price, by achieving the highest levels of productivity.
Edgetech works with all of the main sealed unit machinery suppliers globally, so our customers enjoy the widest choice of machinery options, whether manual, semi- or fully automated to suit all budgets. There is a new trend emerging in UK window manufacturing as the rise in demand for Energy Saving Recommended windows puts more emphasis on the importance of the sealed unit within the overall window unit.
As more companies involved in the window industry wake up to the huge commercial benefits of investing in efficient manufacturing processes and offering added value products, our sector will be well placed to maintain our lead as one of the serious contributors to Britain’s economy. UK prosperity depends on a successful and dynamic manufacturing base. In partnership with industry and other stakeholders, Edgetech continues to lend real support to the manufacturing sector however we can and will be announcing a major development in our commitment very soon.
