Long term VEKA fabricator Manx Glass and Glazing is commemorating 100 years of the famous TT Races on the Isle of Man by sponsoring one of the high powered bikes to be used in the races. Having been fabricating PVCu and aluminium doors, windows and conservatories for over 20 years, the company has gained a well deserved reputation as the island’s biggest manufacturer, using profiles from VEKA in the production process.
“The Isle of Man is synonymous with motorcycling races,” comments MD of Manx, Greg Turner. “We have always been very closely involved with the races and this is the first year that we have bought a bike for the competition and kitted it out in our corporate colour scheme. One of our staff, Les Miller will ride the bike in the Manx Grand Prix then for the Centenary TT Race, veteran Chris McGahan will be the rider.”
The original TT competition was brought to the Island in 1907 as racing on the highways and byways of Britain was impossible, forbidden by Act of Parliament and by the introduction in 1903 of a 20mph speed limit. Since then, the races have dominated the sporting calendar and, says Greg, will continue to do so for many years to come. “We are delighted to be involved in the sponsoring of such a prestigious event, particularly as it has now entered its hundredth year,” he says. “Manx Glass and Glazing is a major name on the Isle of Man and sponsoring one of the bikes enables us to show support for one of our island’s greatest traditions, and also gives us a global audience for our name! Our reputation for quality and reliability is down to the manufacturing excellence and the use of the highest quality components, which is why VEKA profiles are the only choice for us. VEKA offers not only a vast and extensive product range but also support and backup from one of the biggest and most revered names in the industry!”
