REHAU renews commitment to sustainability

REHAU has renewed its membership to the Passivhaus Trust, reaffirming the company’s commitment to delivering the most sustainable and energy efficient solutions to its customers.

REHAU has been a member of the Passivhaus Trust since 2015, and offers a number of products which bear the Passivhaus Standard certification – namely its GENEO® windows, Polytec 50S composite curtain walling system and AGILA Passivhaus doors. These products are ideal for Passivhaus projects, and also for customers looking for high performance windows and doors with exceptional levels of insulation to minimise their energy costs.

Although the Passivhaus market is still quite niche, there is growing interest in sustainable construction in the UK. REHAU has recently been specified for a Passivhaus development in Much Wenlock, Shropshire. The architects – Architype – specialise in sustainable design, and have chosen AGILA Passivhaus doors for the 24 homes being built.

Another key installation demonstrating REHAU’s expertise was one of the UK’s first Passivhaus certified social housing projects in Sarisbury Green, Fareham. REHAU GENEO tilt and turn windows and French doors and the AGILA Passivhaus entrance door were all fabricated by Passivhaus specialists GRM Innovations for the pilot development, built to demonstrate and evaluate what can be achieved in terms of sustainability in the social and affordable housing sector.

Steve Tonkiss, Commercial Sales Manager, REHAU Windows Division, said: “Being part of the Passivhaus Trust allows us to keep up with the latest news and developments in sustainable building and connect with potential customers and like-minded suppliers. With so much potential for growth in the future, Passivhaus is definitely a market where we will continue to invest our time and resources both now and in the future.”

Sustainability is a key business objective for REHAU, both in terms of the products it designs and manufactures and its operations. REHAU has been recycling trade off-cuts for more than 15 years, and has invested more than €50m in new technology and facilities to ensure that more than half its products will be made using recycled materials by 2020.
