Leading Scottish windows, doors and conservatories firm, CR Smith has signed the first ever commercial partnership with Edinburgh Trams in a deal which will see the company that manufactures and installs products for the domestic and commercial markets sponsor 18 trams for the next two years.
The major sponsorship is the natural next strategic step for the long established Scottish company which has recently made a significant investment in its state of the art manufacturing plant.
The advertising deal premiers CR Smith’s latest national campaign, A Window to Scotland, which uses dramatic imagery to celebrate Scotland’s soul and personality as well as promote the breadth of CR Smith’s customer base across the country.
Eighteen individual designs will be carried on the tram network from mid -August, before being rolled out across a fleet of 50 new Mercedes vans and a planned television campaign later this year.
The first designs revealed include a Musselburgh racehorse racing alongside a Falkirk Kelpie, the oldest stone bridge in the highlands at Carrbridge, arching over the Forth Rail Bridge and Glasgow’s cone crowned Duke of Wellington with the white and orange striped lighthouse at Peterhead.
In Edinburgh, the trams wrapped in the new dramatic advertising are expected to be seen on multiple occasions by around 1.3M Edinburgh residents and annual Scottish visitors.
This inaugural advertising deal was negotiated by a unique city partnership between Marketing Edinburgh, Transport for Edinburgh (TfE) and Edinburgh Trams, on behalf of City of Edinburgh Council.
Gerard Eadie CBE, Executive Chairman of CR Smith said:
“CR Smith has always believed in leading from the front. This is a first. No one else has sponsored the Edinburgh Trams and it instantly gives us massive visibility.
“Over the past few years we have invested in our state of the art factory in Cowdenbeath, in our product range and in our people, through ongoing training and our own apprenticeship programme. This is a natural next step for our ongoing strategy for growth.”
John Donnelly, Chief Executive of Marketing Edinburgh said:
“With Edinburgh known as the Gateway to Scotland, the new creative by CR Smith, which celebrates our entire country’s iconic locations is the ideal fit for Edinburgh Trams, visually appealing directly to both our residents and visitors.”
