The latest figures from the BMF’s Builders Merchants Building Index (BMBI) showed builders’ merchants’ sales to builders and contractors were 6.3% lower than in April 2016, due to 3 fewer trading days. However, average sales per day in April were 9.3% higher than in April 2016, reaching a record high since the BMBI report was first published.
The Builders Merchants Building Index (BMBI) tracks builders’ merchants’ actual sales to builders and contractors using GfK’s Builders’ Merchant Point of Sale Tracking Data. The BMBI represents over 80% of the value of the builders' merchants' market.
April 2017 highlights:
- -6.3% on April 2016 (+9.3% when adjusted for trading days)
- -13.1% on March 2017 (+11.1% when adjusted for trading days)
