On 10th June the Paddle2Pedal fundraising team took on another 10 mile stretch of canoeing – this time in the river Severn by Telford. This time the river had a strong current and we also had to tackle rapids for the first time – fun but scary! We managed to complete the 10 miles much quicker than last time, even with a strong headwind for the last couple of miles which made it feel like we were rowing through mud. We also managed to all line our canoes up on request for the attached photo before paddling under the Ironbridge itself – this showed me how far we’ve come in training as if you’d asked us to do that a couple of months ago we’d have been all over the place!
On the Sunday we completed our longest team ride yet at 43 miles. A tough ride that took its toll on everyone and showed how much more training we still need to do. My bruises have finally disappeared from the weekend – not even sure how I got them!
Thanks so much again to everyone that’s already sponsored me, hopefully you’ll agree we’re really earning our donations
For anyone that would like to support this amazing charity and our efforts we are just over halfway on our fundraising target and all donations are very much appreciated. Donations can be made through my Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/daviesp2p
Next training session is in July but I’m aiming to do an extra ride this weekend with fellow P2Pler Sioned from AluK at the Monmouthshire 40 mile sportif – it promises to be a hilly one. Wish us luck!
