New range of friction stays from Kenrick

Kenrick has strengthened its suite of hardware solutions with the launch of a comprehensive range of friction stays. The range, which is available in a number of different sizes and options, has been created to provide smooth operation, superb weather-sealing and reliability.

Handed to provide a positive, weathertight seal when closed, the friction stays are made from type 430 ferritic stainless steel to provide resistance to most atmospheric conditions and satisfy the requirements of BS EN 10088. The friction stays, which can also be retro-fitted, are available in stack heights of 13mm and 17mm to suit most profile systems.

Steve Williams, Kenrick’s Sales and Marketing Director, says: “The range of hardware products for PVC-u, timber and aluminium windows from Kenrick is constantly evolving and we now have an extensive collection of around 1,100 products in our portfolio. Providing a long, trouble-free service life at a competitive price, this range of friction stays satisfies the needs of the fabricator, installer and homeowner.”

The friction stays are available in 8”, 10”, 12”, 16”, 20” and 24” for top hung applications and 12” and 16” for side hung applications. Kenrick has also developed an egress friction stay - available in 12” and 16” for side hung applications - to satisfy the requirements of Approved Document B (fire safety) of the Building Regulations for emergency egress. An egress easy clean friction stay – available in 12” and 16” for side hung applications – provides emergency egress and also enables easy cleaning of the glass from inside.

The entire range of friction stays has been function tested to 30,000 full cycles and has been salt spray tested for a minimum of 240 hours to exceed the requirements of BS 7412. Each friction stay also comes with a full 10-year mechanical guarantee.

Kenrick is a leading supplier of hardware solutions for PVCu, aluminium and timber window and door systems. The company has a proud heritage spanning more than 200 years, having been established by Archibald Kenrick who manufactured buckles and livery fittings. Kenrick’s range of top quality products includes the market leading Excalibur multi-point locking system, the four-point Centurion system and the Easifit and Espagnolette locking systems.

Archibald Kenrick & Sons Ltd was founded in West Bromwich in the Black Country in 1791 and has occupied the same site ever since. During the Industrial Revolution, the business became one of the country’s foremost cast iron manufacturers, something which continued for over 150 years. In the late 1940s, technological advances meant that Kenrick modernised rapidly, introducing new manufacturing techniques such as die-casting and injection moulding. Similar but evolved techniques are still used by Kenrick today.

Kenrick currently offers a variety of products for the furniture, door and window industries including castors, locking systems, handles and hinges. The majority of these products are either made on site in West Bromwich or at their overseas factories to a high standard. The design and innovation is carried out by Kenrick’s own experienced team.

In 1990, Kenrick became part of the Spire Group. It remains committed to investing in research and development, modern production techniques, new product launches and plans significant expansion over the coming years
