Twinsburg, OH. -- GED Integrated Solutions, Inc. (GED) today announced that it is the recent recipient of ABB Robotics’ “Most Innovative Solution” Award. The prestigious award was announced at ABB Robotics’ recently concluded 2016 Americas Value Provider Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia June 8 and 9.
USA Robotics General Manager, ABB, Inc., Gustavo Sepulveda, presented the award to GED President and CEO Bill Weaver at the Conference. Designed for the window and door manufacturing industry, GED’s newest Robotic Twin-Head Vinyl Corner Cleaning System, ROBOCLEAN (RC-2000), garnered GED the honor. Since its first introduction to the U.S. window and door manufacturing industry in the fall of 2014, the RC-2000 is lauded as the first major change in the ideology of cleaning vinyl windows and doors in over 20 years.
“We at ABB Robotics applaud GED Integrated Solutions for their innovative use of industrial robotics and are pleased to recognize their accomplishments with our 2016 Most Innovative Solution Award,” said Sepulveda. “With the introduction of the RC-2000, GED became the first company to use robots for cleaning as a part of the window manufacturing process. They have been able to apply some innovative approaches to automate a process that had previously been considered unsuitable for automation.”
ABB Robotics Value Provider Conference historically provides unique opportunities for its invitees to network with ABB executives, top-level technical experts and product managers from around the world. The event is targeted to benefit both those considering an initial foray into robotic automation, as well as those looking to upgrade or expand their existing robotic lines. It is solely designed to bring together key players in business to share knowledge, experience and insights regarding current and emerging technologies, best practices and industry trends across a wide range of robotic applications.
Additionally, at this year’s event, over 16 live robotic demonstrations covering a wide range of applications, and nearly 20 technical seminars were held. Attendees also witnessed a ground-breaking demo of an entire production line, featuring a portfolio of YuMi®, SCARA, IRB 1200 and IRB 120 robots collaborating with a human to deliver the ultimate in precision, reliability and quality.
