Kenrick has strengthened its long standing relationship with Carl F Groupco - one of the UK's leading distributors of window and door hardware solutions - by developing and delivering a tailored hardware training programme for 18 staff.

The training programme, held over two days at Carl F Groupco’s head office in Peterborough, was designed to provide the company’s sales and customer service team with up to date knowledge on current and forthcoming industry standards as well as a detailed technical understanding of Kenrick’s extensive range of hardware.

During the sessions, delegates examined and compared a number of hardware products and gained an insight into what fabricators, installers and homeowners look for in systems.

The training was conducted by Kenrick’s sales and marketing director Steve Williams, who worked at Groupco for five years. He said: “We have been working with Carl F Groupco for more than a decade now and have a strong relationship with them, so I was delighted to deliver this training programme. The quality of hardware systems can vary greatly and it’s not always easy to spot what makes one product better than another. These sessions were very worthwhile in helping the team to appreciate the importance of every component within a hardware system and how they determine the overall integrity and performance of the product.”

John Crittenden, managing director at Carl F Groupco, added: “As a business, we believe in the ongoing development for our staff. It is important for everyone in our team to have a consistently high level of product knowledge and a thorough understanding of industry accreditations. The Kenrick training programme delivered a comprehensive update for our staff and the feedback has been extremely positive. These sessions were particularly valuable in the run up to the FIT Show, where the team could really demonstrate their strong understanding of the range of products on our stand.”

Among the products on show on the Carl F Groupco stand at the FIT Show was the recently launched Kenrick Excalibur Fast Lock - a high security new door lock, which has been designed to overcome the growing incidence of home invasion burglary. Carl F Groupco distributes a wide range of Kenrick door locks and window locking systems, which have been created to deliver high security and guaranteed performance at a competitive price.

Kenrick is a leading supplier of hardware solutions for PVCu, aluminium and timber window and door systems. The company has a proud heritage spanning more than 200 years, having been established by Archibald Kenrick who manufactured buckles and livery fittings. Kenrick’s range of top quality products includes the market leading Excalibur multi-point locking system, the four-point Centurion system and the Easifit and Espagnolette locking systems.

Archibald Kenrick & Sons Ltd was founded in West Bromwich in the Black Country in 1791 and has occupied the same site ever since. During the Industrial Revolution, the business became one of the country’s foremost cast iron manufacturers, something which continued for over 150 years. In the late 1940s, technological advances meant that Kenrick modernised rapidly, introducing new manufacturing techniques such as die-casting and injection moulding. Similar but evolved techniques are still used by Kenrick today.

Kenrick currently offers a variety of products for the furniture, door and window industries including castors, locking systems, handles and hinges. The majority of these products are either made on site in West Bromwich or at their overseas factories to a high standard. The design and innovation is carried out by Kenrick’s own experienced team.

In 1990, Kenrick became part of the Spire Group. It remains committed to investing in research and development, modern production techniques, new product launches and plans significant expansion over the coming years
