Leading external timber door and window hardware specialist Coastal Group, has extended its highly popular Part Q Compliance system with news that it has achieved PAS24 certification on a door manufactured from the highly popular lower density Accoya, a development the company believes is an industry-first.
Coastal’s ground-breaking Part Q compliance system enables firms to use the company’s own generic Part Q certified products to manufacture officially UKAS tested and certified doors and windows in line with PAS24 without having to pay to have their own windows and doors tested.
The family-run business, which supplies a wide range of joinery hardware solutions for the trade right across the UK and Europe, backed up by a range of technical and practical support, says the Part Q system was developed as part of its dedicated customer support focus.
Despite only being launched at the start of the year, Coastal Director Loren Jenner said the Part Q system was already proving very popular in the trade, with the development of the certification of the Accoya door a major development.
“We are absolutely delighted that we have achieved certificartion on our Accoya door design – which to our knowledge is an industry first. For the trade, it means there is now a PAS24 certified door with a timber density below 600. When you combine this with the popularity of Accoya given its performance benefits, we believe this is extremely positive for the industry,” said Loren.
“As a business – a key area of our growth and reputation has been built on not only providing the latest hardware solutions but combining that with friendly and effective support – both technical and practical – which in turn helps our customers deliver an enhanced service to theirs. What was evident was that for many companies, PartQ, whilst beneficial from a security perspective, was set to cause major headaches for smaller manufacturers. We saw this issue as something we could really lend support with and make the whole process much simpler for those who didn’t want to face the rigours of getting their own products tested,” said Loren.
Anyone wanting to use the Part Q certification system simply needs to go through a straight forward four step application process which can be found on the Cpastal website - https://www.coastal-group.com/PartQApplication - and pay a one off £79 charge per product. Once approved customers are provided with everything they need to be Part Q compliant including a Compliance Guide Manual, a certificate per product type and window stickers enabling building inspectors to quickly and effectIvely see that the windows and doors supplied are Part Q compliant.
