The recent Ecobuild exhibition, held at ExCel in London, proved to be the perfect platform for the launch of Passivdor, which is part of the Solidor Group, with nearly 200 leads taken in the three days.
While there’s much debate and comment filling the press about Passivhaus windows, little has been written about doors achieving the same important standard. Solidor has quickly built up an impressive reputation in the trade for innovation and choice and Passivdor has been set up with similar intentions.
While many composite door manufacturers can readily achieve a 1.1 W/(m2K) U-value, it’s still a considerable gap to the strict 0.8 U-value standard of Passivhaus, which requires the complete installation of the door to reach this value. With this in mind, Solidor have set up Passivdor as a separate entity to focus on a specific range of Passivhaus doors.
Passivdor offer a KBE/Kömmerling 88mm outer frame with a dedicated 62mm Solidor slab, which achieves a U-value of just 0.618 W/(m2K) and benefits from 14 different colours inside and out. There’s also a second option using the newly launched Residence9 window and door system, which boasts 9 chambers, 100mm frame depth and utilises the same 62mm Solidor slab.
Thirdly, Passivdor can combine a KBE/Kömmerling 88mm outer frame with a high performance PVCu door slab from German partner Rodenberg, which provides a wide range of designs, colours and carries Passivhaus certification. With three options and a wealth of designs and colours, Passivdor believe they have a unique portfolio of products for the Passivhaus and commercial market specifier.
Gareth Mobley, managing director of the Solidor Group comments: “Ecobuild was an important platform for the launch of Passivdor, which is a long-term project for us. We’re building a reputation for innovation with our products and want to continue pushing the boundaries in composite door specification and development.”
