Ace Fixings speeds ahead with new technology

Ireland’s largest independent fixings and power tool suppliers Ace Fixings, has developed ‘bleeding-edge’ technology to have a completely integrated and mobile management IT solution which will improve efficiency and keep it ahead of competitors.

Ace Fixings was provided with a communication platform to further improve its manufacturing, stock control, distribution and financial processing capabilities, as well as linking the sales team to a mobile powerhouse, by Anglia Business Solutions, using Microsoft PDA technology.

Explains Ace Fixings financial controller Mervyn Glenn “ We are now able to reduce data duplication and produce meaningful management information in a streamlined operation.”

With 42,000 sq ft of storage at its base, Ace Fixings needs to provide the latest fixing or tool in the shortest time for its huge customer base of contractors and trades. To further provide a first class service, its mobile sales team can, in addition, access stock levels and send orders through their handheld computers direct to the distribution centre for fast delivery.

As innovators, both companies were used as case studies in a recent exhibition of Microsoft technologies.
