A steel window survey from ASWS will save you time and may help secure you the tender

Associated Steel Window Services (www.asws.co.uk) is a family-managed business now into its third generation and 60th year as a specialist steel window refurbishment and replacement company. It has evolved continuously since 1960 and is now a leading figure in the steel window industry.

ASWS has been a member of the Steel Window Association – www.steel-window-association.co.uk – since the late 1980’s working to optimize expertise in the industry.

Established in 1960, the company started with a small client base working mainly for large insurance companies such as Sun Alliance and Legal & General. The original company concentrated on the servicing of steel windows, general glazing and repairs to fire escapes.

Since the mid-1980’s, after the former proprietor retired from the business and the current management team took over, the company has grown considerably and moved into a more specialized field; that of replacement, refurbishment and redecoration of steel windows encompassing a complete site package.

Over time, ASWS employed direct labour to carry out all the work processes including decoration which proved highly successful; the site team became specialists in their own fields achieving extremely high standards. With this evolution, the style of contracts being undertaken began to change dramatically.  The specialised area of work became prestigious heritage landmark buildings including County Hall, Unilever House, Victoria House, Block W5 Regent Street and Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel.

By early 2000’s, window packages contained a variety of window material types and specifications and, in turn, ASWS developed a complete window package solution. At the same time, export projects were secured; ASWS worked on projects liaising directly with Aspire Qatar Hospitality on Aspire Park in Doha, Qatar.

Since the third generation of the family joined the business, ASWS has enjoyed even larger and more prestigious projects. Part of the company ethos is the continual support and guidance for clients which invariably results in a successful conclusion to projects. The most recent projects have included Hackney Town Hall, Quadrant Arcade, 21 Glasshouse Street, Royal Academy of Arts, The Heals Building and the full refurbishment of BBC Bush House, home for many years to the BBC World Service. Even a return to County Hall after twenty five years. Most recently ASWS are proud to have been involved in the removal of the historic windows, façade mullions and spandrels ahead of the major refurbishment of the landmark Whiteleys shopping centre.
