Brisant gets sweeter

Sweet hardware system

Creating a pit-free furniture system has been a bugbear of Nick Dutton, CEO of Brisant-Secure, ever since he moved on from running a door manufacturer and couldn’t find a hardware system that did what it was supposed to achieve.

2020 sees Brisant launching a brand new 20-year guarantee on the Sweet hardware system. They’ve taken the decision to leap from ten years to twenty, following the rigorous testing which they have put the handles and letterplates through over the last year.

The choices they made in manufacturing, coating with 6 layers of armour, have paid off. They put a handle in an independent test chamber and it still looked great, even after being hammered with saltwater for over 8,000 hours. That’s an incredible 30x more time than required for the flagship EN 1906:2012 corrosion standard.

Sweet is an edgeless, long lasting, pit-free beautiful hardware system for any door. It comprises of two types of handle, including the patented secure and award-winning Lock Lock. They have created a second shape of letter plate, having listened to customers. There is now a more traditional square plate as well as the oval, edgeless shape. There are rounded, screw-less numerals and letters as well as a new two-part knocker.

In addition to the standard colour range, Brisant have added the on-trend rose gold. It looks fantastic on all door colours and is manufactured to the same standard as the original colours. 2020 also sees the introduction of the 2-part knocker which is still true to the Sweet design concept but moving on from the historical ‘urn’ knockers.

Nick Dutton CEO of Brisant-Secure concluded: “Brisant aims to be at the forefront of development, whether that is keeping door furniture looking great against extreme weather conditions or staying on-trend with the launch of the new rose gold. We are delighted with how good it looks and how well it is performing and are delighted with the result.”

Brisant Secure

Brisant Secure is led by cylinder lock expert CEO Steve Stewart. Steve designed Brisant’s range of innovative, premium quality, top performance cylinders, which have been widely accepted by the locksmith market and now making rapid in roads to the replacement door market. Having previously run ABS and designed Avocet’s ABS lock, many consider Steve the leading cylinder lock designer in the UK.

In an industry that relies on £3 Euro cylinders, standards and guidelines are complicated and often confused, so installers are misled as to the real security they are selling, and homeowners think they are more secure than they are. Brisant wants to change that.

Sold Secure Diamond testing has no rules. All cylinders are tested using any and all means known to breach cylinders. There is no time limit to how long a trained MLA locksmith can have to dissect the lock. If the lock breaks, it failed. If the lock isn’t breached by any attack, it is awarded Diamond status. Cylinders that have achieved this rating are truly the locks that lock.
