Dempsey Dyer contributes to the stunning conversion of Colne Grammar School into 23 luxury apartments

Derwent House is the prestigious conversion of the former Colne Grammar School in Lancashire into 23 luxury apartments. Undertaken by Barnfield Construction on behalf of H Rigg Properties, the total value of the project was £4 million and took 52 weeks to complete.

Derwent House is a flagship development for both Ribble and Barnfield so the choice of subcontractors was key. As always, price was a factor, but so too was reliability and quality. When it came to the windows and doors, Barnfield turned to Dempsey Dyer.

Dempsey Dyer had the commercial experience that Barnfield was looking for, plus, as a Deceuninck fabricator, it could guarantee the level of product quality that was needed.

Given the luxury nature of the project, the window specification needed to be something special. Dempsey Dyer used the popular Deceuninck 2800 Series decorative suite. Using Deceuninck unique Decoroc hard coat colour system, the windows were provided in cream with a sophisticated matt satin finish. As well as offering superb aesthetics, the Decoroc colour application comes with a 10 year guarantee, demonstrating its durability and giving peace of mind to the apartment owners.

Dempsey undertook the Derwent House project with its sister project, The Locks, a development of 32 luxury homes. In total, 1105 windows were needed for the projects at a total contract price of £334,000. It meant that Dempsey needed all its experience and expertise to ensure the successful fabrication and installation of the windows.

The quality and attention to detail paid to the windows is an indication of the project’s exacting aims. They are the perfect choice for a stunning development that also features a video entrance system, a secure underground car park, enclosed courtyards and landscaped gardens.

Attention to detail at all levels, plus the careful choice of contractors such as Dempsey Dyer, is the key to the successful completion of such a prestigious project. And the beautiful results on show at Derwent House demonstrate that the project is indeed a success.
